Safran Rare by Amouroud, a unisex fragrance, was launched in 2016 by perfumer Claude Dir. This scent captures the silken aroma of saffron, carefully extracted from the timid, purple crocus flower. The fragrance unfolds with top notes of smoky incense, tart bergamot, rosy geranium, and refreshing freesia. This is followed by a heart of silken saffron, rose de mai, austere cedar, and sweet jasmine. The base notes comprise sandalwood, benzoin, oud wood, and woody vetiver, establishing a comforting, woody scent, tinged with a floral touch and a hint of spice. The fragrance is warm, spicy, balsamic, and subtly smoky.
